➔ Protocols eased to facilitate the entry of Ukrainian refugees with PETS (#206)

As a result of the war in Ukraine, many refugees are forced to leave their country in a hurry, often with their pets. Under current regulations, pet animals entering the EU from Ukraine are subject to specific identification and vaccination requirements. In view of the situation, the European Commission, in collaboration with the Member States, has decided to derogate from these conditions in order to facilitate the entry of refugees with their pets. In order to register their pets, pet owners are requested to contact a veterinarian. The Administration of Veterinary Services will also visit the shelter centres to help with the regularisation of the animals. For further information, please contact the Administration of Veterinary Services by e-mail at info@asv.etat.lu or by phone at (+352) 247-82539, or download the registration form.

➔ Access to the Luxembourg labour market for refugees from Ukraine (#208)

The EU has decided that refugees from Ukraine do not have to go through an asylum procedure and will directly receive temporary protection in all member states. For refugees coming to Luxembourg, this means that they do not need a work permit and are immediately available to the labour market. They can be hired directly under statutory employment contracts (permanent/temporary/temporary work), subject to the legal provisions of the Labour Code. Employers who wish to hire refugees from Ukraine must register their vacancies with the ADEM following the usual procedure. When filling in the declaration of a vacant position, employers should make sure that they choose the public publication of their job notification in order to guarantee that jobseekers from the Ukraine can access it directly on the public website of ADEM’s Jobboard.
